Comfort Quilts
Our guild members have a long tradition of supporting the community by creating quilted items. As an incorporated society, our Guild is guided by strong values of sharing and giving back. It is who we are. In 2025, we donated 1,142 items to local community groups. Each Guild member aims to make at least one quilted item for charity each year. The Guild’s Comfort Quilt Committee supports our generous quilters by organizing sew days, providing kits, and delivering finished items to organizations and individuals in need. Items are given to organizations, to individuals in their homes, or in response to specific situations or circumstances of need. The organizations we are proud to support through this service are:
Nanaimo: VISCAN (Vancouver Island Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect),
supporting preteens and teens; NICU; renal unit; NRGH emergency department; and
palliative care unit.
Parksville: Arrowsmith Seniors; Stanford Seniors Village; Trillium
Lodge and Trillium Hospice; Haven House; and SOS Meals on Wheels.
Qualicum Beach: Eagle Park Care Facility and Qualicum Beach Manor.
Port Alberni: Abbeyfield; Alberni Valley Shelter; Fir Park Village; Ty
Watson Hospice; Sage Haven Society; Pacific Rim Children and Families; West
Haven Nursing Home; Oomiigsu – Aboriginal Mother and Child Centre; and
Salvation Army.
